A 4 days short trip to the Great Living Chola Temples will let you explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Great Living Chola Temples located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, that were built during the Chola dynasty (9th to 13th centuries). There are three main temples in the site: the Brihadeeswarar Temple at Thanjavur, the Temple of Gangaikondacholisvaram at Gangaikondacholapuram, and the Airavatesvara Temple at Darasuram:
- Brihadeeswarar Temple: This temple, also known as the Big Temple, is located in Thanjavur and is the most famous of the Great Living Chola Temples. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its massive size and elaborate carvings.
- Gangaikondacholapuram Temple: This temple, located in the village of Gangaikonda Cholapuram, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its ornate carvings and beautiful sculpture.
- Airavatesvara Temple: This temple, located in Darasuram, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its intricate carvings and beautiful sculptures.
Itinerary
On the day of arrival at Thanjavur or Tiruchirappalli International Airport, our representative will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel in Thanjavur. After fresh-n-up, visit the Brihadeeswarar Temple in the afternoon. Later in the evening, explore the local markets and try some traditional Tamil cuisine. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, leave for Gangaikonda Cholapuram and visit the Temple of Gangaikonda Cholisvaram. After exploring the temple, have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Rajarajesvaram Museum and learn more about the history and culture of the Chola dynasty. Later in the evening, drive back to your hotel in Thanjavur for overnight stay.
After breakfast at the hotel, leave for Darasuram to visit the Airavatesvara Temple. In the afternoon, explore the town of Darasuram and visit the Shiva Temple, which is known for its intricate sculptures and carvings. Later in the evening, enjoy a traditional dance performance at a local cultural center. Later in the evening, drive back to your hotel in Thanjavur for overnight stay.
In the morning, leave in time for Airport/Railway station for onward journey.

Payment Terms
A deposit of 10% is required to confirm this tour, and the remaining balance will be charged 60 days prior tour starting date. For any bookings within 60 days of departure, the full tour amount will be charged upon booking. This can be paid through bank transfer, credit/debit card, or cash.
Cancellation
No additional cancellation fees apply for this tour. You can cancel the tour prior tour starting date and avoid paying the full amount, but the deposit you have paid is non-refundable. No refund applies for cancellations within of tour starting date.

It is the sole responsibility of each individual traveller to get the required visa(s) for this tour, as visa requirements vary depending on your nationality. We recommend to check with the Embassy of India in your home country.
