Maheshwar Fort

Maheshwar Fort is an ancient fort located in Maheshwar city of Madhya Pradesh. Situated on the banks of river Narmada, it is one of the major heritage places in Madhya Pradesh, and one of the major tourist places in Maheshwar. Popularly known as Holkar Fort, Maheshwar Fort was built by the Holkar dynasty in the 18th century AD. It was once the residence of Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar, the famous queen of Malwa, hence the fort is also called Ahilya Qila or Queen's Fort. This palace is the pinnacle of Maratha architecture. One can marvel at the chhatris as well as the palace which houses a beautiful life-sized statue of Queen Ahilya Bai Holkar sitting on a throne. There are also several temples dedicated to various incarnations of Lord Shiva on the premises of the fort.

Maheshwar Ghat

Maheshwar Ghat is such a place which never gets empty. Peshwa, Ahilya, Fenes Ghat, situated on the banks of the holy river Narmada, are the major ghats of Maheshwar. Many devotees visit these ghats who spend hours sitting on the banks of the river. It becomes mandatory for the devotees to take a dip in the holy river. Many mythological memories have been carved in a unique way on the stones at these ghats. These carvings have been made in the memory of Sati of Lord Shiva at the place of Maheshwar.

Shri Raj Rajeshwar Temple

Shri Raj Rajeshwar Temple is a shivalay at present and lights 11 lamps (AKHAND DEEPAK) since many centuries are said to be forever. The rajrajeshwar mandir is believed to be the trance place of Somvanshiya Sahastrarjun Kartviry Arjun. The birth anniversary of Sahastrabahu kartviry Arjun is a big festival in Maheshwar and is celebrated on Shukla Saptami of Agahan mah. This celebration continues for three days and ends with a big lunch for all.

Baneshwar ShivJi Mandir

A very ancient temple built on an island between the fast flow of Narmada is a SHIVALAY, it is believed that in the Dwapar era, Banasur had pleased Lord Shiva with hard penance here. Construction of the Baneshwar Mahadev Temple is said to be about one thousand years old in the 9th to 10 centuries. The triangular walls of the temple are a fine sample of an ancient technique that protects the temples from sharp currents.

Ek Mukhi Datta Temple is a newly constructed Hindu temple located at Sahastradhara, Jalkoti, Maheshwar. Situated on the banks of river Narmada, also called Shiv Datta Dham, Ek Mukhi Datta Temple is dedicated to Lord Dattatreya. This temple has been constructed in an area of â€‹â€‹30 acres. The temple is situated on the banks of the historic Narmada River in its most solemn, serene, adventurous, and terrifying form. The temple has admirable architecture and splendid history. The main attraction of this temple are the attractive idols of Lord Ek Mukhi Datta, Maa Narmada and Lord Ganesha.
