Thongsa Gumpha
Thongsa Gumpha is a Buddhist monastery located in the hill town of Kalimpong. Located close to Mangal Dham, Thongsa Gumpha is the oldest monastery in the entire Kalimpong region and one of the best places to visit in Kalimpong. Built in 1692 CE, Thongsa or Tongsa Gompa is also known as Bhutanese Monastery. The original gompa was built under the direct guidance of the King of Bhutan. It was rebuilt in the 19th century after the demolition of the original gompa by the Gorkhas in Sikkim. The monastery belongs to the Nyingmapa school of Buddhism.
Tharpa Choling Monastery
Tharpa Choling Monastery is a beautiful Buddhist monastery located on KD Pradhan Road in the city of Kalimpong, West Bengal. Perched atop the Tirapai hills, it is one of the three oldest monasteries in Kalimpong, belonging to the Gelugpa sect. The style of construction of this monastery is simple but the images of Buddha and other deities are quite amazing. The notable feature of the monastery is the presence of sacred Buddhist texts and old literary works of various saints. The gompa has statues of Bhaisajya, Shakyamuni and Maitreya Buddha. The small hall is decorated with images of animals and humans. One of the most ideal places for meditation in Kalimpong.
Morgan's House The Old Birtish Haveli
Located in the lush greenery of Kalimpong, Morgan House is a mansion built in the 1930s by Mr. and Mrs. Morgan. It is a perfect example of colonial architecture in Kalimpong. It is even better to visit this gorgeous piece of construction considering that it is surrounded by legends of being haunted! It has been converted into a lodge for tourists and is under the administration of West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation. Mangal Dham Temple
Mangal Dham is a Hindu temple located in Kalimpong, West Bengal. Located close to Thongsa Gompa, it is one of the most important religious centers of West Bengal, Mangal Dham was built in 1993 by Shri Krishna Pranami in the divine memory of Late Guru Shri Mangaldasji. Spread over an area of ​​2 acres, this temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The entire theme of the Dham is knowledge, devotion, and service. Guruji's samadhi is located on the ground floor, while the prayer hall is on the top floor where one can see the idol of Raj Shyamaji being waved on either side by Pujya Prannathji and Shri Guru Mangaldasji.
Jelepla Viewpoint
The Jelepla Viewpoint is maintained by the Indian Army. The daunting roads and confluence of the rivers Teesta, Relli, & Reang can be viewed through wired fences. Jelepla Viewpoint also offers a splendid view of the snowcapped Mount Kanchenjunga and the Jelepla Pass that was once used for trade with Tibet.
Hanuman Temple
Hanuman Mandir is a Hindu temple located in Kalimpong, West Bengal. Situated near Deolo Hill, it is one of the beautiful places of pilgrimage in Kalimpong and also one of the best places to visit in Kalimpong. Dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the Hanuman Mandir was inaugurated in 2004 by Karma Wangchuk. The temple has a huge idol of Lord Hanuman with a height of about 30 feet. There is also a small Durga temple near the entrance. The place is situated at a height and overlooks the Teesta River on one side and hills on the other.
