Jaisalmer Fort
Built in 1156 by King Rawal Jaisal, Jaisalmer Fort is situated in the city of Jaisalmer, in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Jaisalmer fort is popularly known as the "Sonar Kila" because it is made of yellow sandstone. The fort looks golden in the early morning when the first rays of the sun reach the ground.
Gadisar Lake
Gadisar Lake also called Gadaria Lake is located in the Jaisalmer district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was built by the founder of Jaisalmer, King Rawal Jaisal in 1156 AD and later rebuilt by Gadsi Singh in the year around 1367 AD. A man-made water reservoir, the Gadisar Lake was once the only source of water in Jaisalmer, it is surrounded by temples and ghats (banks). One can spend some peaceful time in the serene surroundings of the lake or choose to go boating as well.
Bada Bagh
Bada Bagh, also called Barabagh is a garden complex located about six kilometers north of Jaisalmer in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Overlooking a mango grove sits a set of royal chhatri cenotaphs constructed by the Maharajas of the Jaisalmer State in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries CE. Wonderfully sculpted cenotaphs and chhatris of former rulers are the special attraction of Bada Bagh. Known as the golden city of India, Jaisalmer is a beautiful city in Rajasthan. Among all the things that make this city popular, “Patwon Ki Haveli,†also known as the Mansion of Brocade Merchants tops the list.Patwon Ki Haveli is a cluster of five large havelis in Jaisalmer. Built in 1805 by Guman Chand Patwa, it took the workers almost 55 years to complete the first haveli. With an interesting history, Patwon Ki Haveli is actually the first and the largest haveli to be constructed in Jaisalmer.
Tanot Rai Mata Mandir
Tanot Mata is a temple in the western state of India in District Jaisalmer of Rajasthan. One of these was Aavad Mata, who is known as Tanot Mata. The temple was constructed and the idol of the reigning deity was installed by the Bhati Rajput King Tanu Rao in 828 AD. Since then, the temple has been revered and worshipped by the Bhati Rajputs and the people of Jaisalmer for generations. Another reason to visit this old temple is the incredulous road which connects it with Jaisalmer. According to the visitors, the route is brimming with the vistas brimming with beautiful landscapes.
Jaisalmer War Museum
The Jaisalmer War Museum is located 10 km short of Jaisalmer on the Jaisalmer - Jodhpur Highway. The Jaisalmer War Museum was conceived by Lieutenant General Bobby Mathews, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Desert Corps and constructed by the Desert Corps of the Indian Army. Jaisalmer War Museum was established in the military station in order to honour the soldiers of the 'Battle of Longewala' that was fought in the year 1971. It embraces the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian Army. It was inaugurated and opened for public viewing on 24 August 2015. It took place on the day of Golden Jubilee commemoration of the India-Pakistan war in 1965.
