Hoysala Temples At Mosale

Nageshwara and Channakeshava temples are twin Hoysala temples located in Mosale village of Hassan district of Karnataka. This is one of the popular Hoysala temples in Karnataka, and one of the top places to visit in Hassan. The Nageshwara-Chennakeshava temple is said to have been built during the reign of the Hoysala king Veera Ballala II in 1200 AD. The temple complex is a beautiful example of Hoysala architecture dating back to the early 12th century. The temples together form a unique dwikutchal. One of the temples is dedicated to Nageshwar (Lord Shiva), and the other to Chennakeshava (Lord Vishnu). This temple complex is protected and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Kappe Chennigaraya Temple

Chennakeshava Temple, also known as Keshava, Keshava or Vijayanarayana Temple of Belur, is a 12th-century Hindu temple in Hassan district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It was commissioned by King Vishnuvardhana in 1117 CE, on the banks of the Yagachi River at Belur, also known as Velapura, the capital of the early Hoysala Empire. It is a part of the Chanakeshav temple complex and is situated next to a pond. The stone architecture has splendid carvings and bas-relief work which adds to the beauty of the temple complex.

Bucheshwara Temple

Bucheshwar Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in Koravangala village in Hassan district of Karnataka. This is one of the stunning Hoysala temples in Karnataka, and one of the top tourist places in Hassan. Bucheswara Temple is a simple yet elegant piece of Hoysala architecture of the 12th century. The temple was built in 1173 AD by a wealthy official named Buchiraja to celebrate the coronation of the Hoysala king Veera Ballala II. Bukeshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Shettihalli Church

The church boasts of stunning Gothic style architecture. Like other churches, it would have been shaped like a cross. Once upon a time it also had beautiful stained glass windows. The scalloped arch is a unique design element not seen in many churches since that time. It is an Islamic architectural reference which is believed to have been incorporated to make it familiar and comfortable to the local population.
