Annapurneshwari Temple
The Annapurneshwari Temple in Horanadu is situated on the banks of the Bhadra River in Chikmagalur district, amidst the forests and valleys of the Western Ghats. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu goddess of sustenance and food Annapurneshwari or Annapurna. The 8th century temple is also known as Sri Adhishakthamaka Annapurneshwari Temple or Sri Kshetra Horanadu Temple. Maharishi Agastya is believed to have installed the idol in the temple.
Baba Budangiri
To the north of Chikkamagalur district of Karnataka, lies the Baba Budan range of the Western Ghats of India. Baba Budangiri is a mountain in the Baba Budan range and is famous for its shrine to the Sufi saint, Hazrat Dada Hayat Khalandar (also known as Baba Budan). This mountain range proudly displays one of the highest mountain peaks, the height of which lies between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris. Mullayanagiri (or Mullayanagiri/Mulainagiri) is the highest peak of this Baba Budangiri range. Kurinji is a unique species of flower that blooms once in every 12 years in these hills, which people from all over the world come here to see.
Ballalarayana Durga
Ballalarayana Durga is a hill fort in Chikmagalur situated in the village of Bettabalige between the towns of Kotteghara and Kalasa. With a rich history and cultural significance, the vantage point is situated at an altitude of 1509 meters and offers some of the best panoramic views and picturesque views of the region. Nestled comfortably in the Western Ghats, amidst the dense forests can only be reached via a trek.
Belavadi
It is a beautiful Hoysala style temple located 28 km south of Chikmagalur town in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. This temple is huge and huge with three vimanas - built in Trikuta style. The entrance of the temple is in the center with slanted roofs. There is an elephant on either side of some of the stairs leading to the inside of the temple. This temple was built by Veera Ballala II in the 13th century. Belur and Halebid are famous for their intricate sculpture, but this temple is one of the best examples of Hoysala architecture.
Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary
Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of 38 km from Chikmagalur city in Karnataka. It boasts of a very large number of tigers and was declared the 25th Project Tiger of India in 1998. High mountain ranges and lush green vegetation from all around make it very attractive. You can spot some endangered species here like the Malabar giant squirrel and orangutan.
